In this very special episode, Chellie is joined by World War II hero, Dr. Eugene Richardson, an original member of the elite Tuskegee Airmen. “Tuskegee Airmen” refers to all who were involved in the so-called “Tuskegee Experience,” the Army Air Corps program to train African-Americans to fly and maintain combat aircraft, including pilots, navigators, bombardiers, maintenance and support staff, instructors, and other personnel. Their success and achievements led to full integration of the U.S. military in 1948, and paved the way for African Americans to serve as pilots in the U.S. Air Force.

Developing and maintaining a robust air service network is a critical function of any airport, helping to spur local and regional economic growth – but it doesn’t happen overnight. In honor of the Army-Navy game on December 8th in Philadelphia, Chellie talks with Liberty USO CEO, Joe Brooks about the new USO lounge at PHL. This less than a year old 4,600-square-foot facility has a full restaurant-style kitchen, men's and women's bunk-rooms, a family playroom, theater-style seats, showers and is staffed by Liberty USO volunteers. It’s a place for service members and their families to escape the stress of traveling and to decompress.
